Today Xena went home with her new human mom. It was so hard to say goodbye but I know Xena will be well taken care of and spoiled very much!

Xena is still available for adoption! But we are looking for a home for her in Texas. We can’t ship a dog especially in this heat and we want to make sure it’s a good fit, so the closer to Austin, TX the better in case Xena would have to be returned. Thank you for understanding. – See more at: http://tripawds.com/forums/the-tripawd-rescue-forum/miniature-pinchser-mix-ready-for-adoption-in-tx/#p127657
Xena and her new larger friend (I hope), Misty , are walking together at one of our local paths. I am so impressed with Xena. We have done this path twice now and it’s 1.7 miles! Xena is usually out in the lead and loving the experience. Last night they turned on the sprinklers. As long as we were able to avoid the sprinklers (haha) she was loving it again!
Xena will be 6 weeks post-amputation on, Monday, June 2nd. She is doing great but still looking for her furever family!

Monday is Xena’s 1 month anniversary since she had her amputation. She is doing excellent without her dead leg dragging her down. See for yourself in her latest video titled Hopping Free.
I think she is ready to find her furever home.
Hello, my name is Xena. It used to be something else but when Charlyne’s Pound Puppies rescued me after being hit by a car, they decided I was a princess warrior! Because of the car accident I had to have my leg amputated. Now I am a Tripawd, and proud of it. I can run as fast as ever (just not as long as I used to)! I had a hard life before C.P.P. took me in. It frightens me when people shout at me or raise their hand to me. But I forget easily and can’t wait to snuggle up as close as I can to my family members. I like dogs that are about my size and cats are ok too. I weigh about 10 lbs and am a Miniature Pinscher mixed with something else…perhaps a dachshund.
Being a tripawd makes me a little less perfect than the other pups needing homes, but I promise to love you unconditionally furever.
Surgery was Monday so I think Xena is 4 days post-op. She is doing amazing! I can’t wait for her hair to grow back so she looks cute again. I am amazed at how well she is doing. She is taking Metacam once a day for pain and inflammation along with simplicef for an antibiotic. And her neckerchief came in today.
Xena is officially a tripawd dog. She came home today from her surgery. She walked out on her own with the vet and some vet techs. I was so surprised to see how agile she was and seemed in no pain. I ordered her tripawd neckerchief today.
I got to visit Xena a few hours after her surgeries today. She was still a bit “drunk”. Probably a good thing at this point. She wagged her tail some and seemed to be doing pretty well for they day she had. The vet did not take her shoulder blade hoping that would help with balance. She can come home sometime tomorrow.
Xena is scheduled for her 11am amputation surgery today. She is also getting spayed and micro-chipped. She will be ready to go to a wonderful home after all this.
I just learned a new term while looking thru the Miniature Pinchser rescue sites. I’m always curious about how Xena is similar…if she is. Velcro dog definitely explains her. She wants to be anywhere I am and as close to me as possible.
