Surgeries

I spoke with the vet office.  It is going to cost between $1600 and $2000 to remove Xena’s limb and spay her.  Yikes!  They said surgery for the amputation would take about 45 minutes if all went well. They are going to remove it at the shoulder (that what it’s called on people anyway).  She won’t have a bandage, she will have internal stitches and will need to be careful not to bump it for about a week while the incision heals.  We are shooting for April 21st if all works out.  Still hoping to see some improvement in that nerve damaged limp…

  1. Ooooh, that’s a lotta dough but I’m going to bet it’s a top notch facility that really does the job right. Where is it? Just curious.

Amputation surgery isn’t something to skimp on, sounds like a good vet! Oh and taking it off at the shoulder is excellent, it’s the best way to do it so we’re really glad to hear that.

    1. Thank you so much for encouragement! It means a lot!
This is a top notch vet. They have all the fancy diagnostic equipment. I feel very comfortable with them. Just a little concerned about Xena’s hopes for ever having a family that will adopt her. She’s the sweetest dog but adopting a tripawd is a little scary.
